Purpose
The City of Mableton provides complimentary Guest Wi-Fi to visitors conducting official business with the City. This service is intended to provide convenient Internet access while helping protect City information systems and network resources.
By accessing the City of Mableton Guest Wi-Fi network, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to comply with this Acceptable Use Policy.
Permitted Use
Guest Wi-Fi may be used for lawful personal or business-related Internet access while visiting City facilities. Permitted activities may include:
- Accessing email
- Web browsing
- Using online government services
- Video conferencing
- Using cloud applications
- Educational and research activities
Prohibited Activities
Users may not use the Guest Wi-Fi network to:
- Violate any federal, state, or local law.
- Attempt unauthorized access to any computer, system, application, or network.
- Circumvent security controls or filtering mechanisms.
- Download, transmit, or distribute malware or malicious software.
- Conduct hacking, scanning, denial-of-service attacks, or other disruptive activities.
- Engage in copyright infringement or illegal file sharing.
- Access or distribute unlawful, fraudulent, or obscene material.
- Use the network in a manner that interferes with other users or City operations.
Security Monitoring
To help protect City systems and ensure the integrity of the network, the City may monitor, log, and analyze network activity associated with Guest Wi-Fi usage in accordance with applicable laws and City policies.
Users should have no expectation of privacy regarding activity conducted over the Guest Wi-Fi network.
Content Filtering
The City reserves the right to restrict access to websites or online services that present cybersecurity risks, contain malicious software, violate applicable laws, or conflict with City security policies.
Availability
Guest Wi-Fi is provided on an “as available” basis. The City does not guarantee continuous availability, connection speeds, compatibility with every device, or uninterrupted service.
Limitation of Liability
The City of Mableton is not responsible for data loss, device damage, security incidents affecting personal devices, loss of productivity, or service interruptions. Users connect at their own risk.
